When I received the doll she is a true African American skin type or color. It makes no difference to me or my daughter but if it does to others then you may want to choose the "white" version of this doll. I think this doll itself is beautiful but it is not accurately portrayed in the pictures on any of the web sites. The description does say African American but the skin tone looks more Hispanic or Asian and it is not; this is a true African American skin tone.
