Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism Durability: Fun: Educational: Art Asylum's initial releases under the Star Trek license are excellent pieces, be they for the collector or for play. The phase pistol is a solid start. The heavy plastic is durable and well-tooled. The added feature of opening to reveal a "power cell" is also a nice touch. The cell lights up when you replace it in it's chamber until you close the cover. Unfortunately, the silvertone barrel shown in the image on this page has been replaced by a more toy-like clear red plastic barrel. They pistol is still very well done. The communicator is also well-built with a nice clear sound chip and basic lighting effect. The black lacquer seems a bit too shiny, but that seems to be the only issue I have with it. As an added bonus, the voice you hear on the sound chip is that of Scott Bakula, not just a random voice. All in all, a quality start for the new series of collectibles.
