Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism Durability: Fun: Educational: I bought this for my 3 year old's birthday, knowing that both her and my 5 year old love to help me in the kitchen and would enjoy their own oven toy. I was curious and skeptical how ice could "cook" the batter. We used the vanilla cake mix and followed the directions exactly. The little cupcakes came out perfectly. We used the vanilla frosting mix also, which made a tiny amount but was just enough for the 2 little cakes. My 5 year old loved the taste of them, the 3 year old wasn't quite as impressed. I tasted a tiny bit myself, and it was interesting. The texture was like a spongy cake, but it was pretty salty tasting. Okay for a little treat though, since they are small. Honestly I don't think the ice or oven is even needed to make the mixes. Because they are gelatin based, it was almost "cooked" before I even got it in the oven. That's why it says to quickly put the batter in the pans. Overall, I think it's a cute little toy that my girls will enjoy for a while.
